Dungeon Settlers Current Build & Updates
Dungeon Settlers v0.4.29 changes: auto-pickup weight, dungeon stay penalties, barriers, skill changes, recruitment, and practical checks for existing saves.
On this page+
Dungeon Settlers v0.4.29, released October 10, 2026, is the latest numbered gameplay update found in the official news feed checked October 18. Start by reviewing Auto-Pickup's weight threshold, your party before changing floors, and any build that relies on barriers or rapid cooldown resets. The October 14 soundtrack announcement is separate from the gameplay patch.
What to do after updating
| Your situation | First action | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Loot stays on the ground | Inspect the Auto-Pickup weight option and the carrier's load | Reaching the selected threshold can stop pickup |
| Moving floors or returning | Read the names in the surviving-member warning and regroup | A member may otherwise be left behind |
| Water/barrier build feels slower | Revisit barriers and Wave Cycle | Both barrier accumulation and cooldown cycling changed |
| Fire Mage damage differs | Review Become Fire's new stacking behavior | Existing Burning stacks no longer determine the whole increase |
| Settlement jobs stall | Check the job's access, policy, inputs, and mode | The patch fixes several work and hauling cases; see Resources & Camping |
These are preparation and troubleshooting steps derived from the announced changes. They are not a claim that every save will encounter a bug.
Auto-Pickup, floor changes, and dungeon time
The new Auto-Pickup weight option defaults to Until becoming Heavily Encumbered. Before a material run, check that threshold alongside the carrying member's inventory. When pickup stops, check load before assuming the drop cannot be collected. The Expedition Guide combines that check with supplies and extraction.
Changing normal dungeon floors now keeps the accumulated stay duration and penalty progression. A staircase is therefore a route choice, not a reliable way to refresh the expedition's time budget. Resting or taking an extra detour should be weighed against the active stay effect. For older saves that have no recorded stay start, the patch starts calculating duration when the save is loaded.
On departure or a floor transition, the game now identifies living members who would be left behind. Cancel and collect them before confirming if the intention is to move the whole party.
Combat changes that affect older builds
v0.4.29 caps total barriers at twice the protected unit's maximum HP and limits Wave Cycle's cooldown-reduction activation to once per second. It also changes Become Fire's Magic Attack calculation and expiry, and restricts Sword Counter to defending against melee attacks.
Use Builds for worked barrier examples and the practical consequences for each setup. That page also distinguishes a dated player build from mechanics established by the current official patch.
For recruitment, compare the current candidate display: the patch changes primary-attribute growth calculations and raises minimum growth at higher talent grades. Characters & Skills explains what to compare before investing.
Bugs announced as fixed
| Symptom from an older build | Relevant v0.4.29 fix | Useful next check |
|---|---|---|
| A Training Inscription tree or its points disappear after saving while paused | This save interaction was corrected | Update before repeating it; inspect the affected character |
| A job waits after switching to continuous crafting | The mode-switch waiting state was corrected | Check the actual recipe, ingredients, operator, and access |
| Food's remaining lifetime looks wrong in storage | Spoilage tooltips now account for the storage preservation effect | Inspect the food in its current container |
| Sleep state follows a member underground | Dungeon transitions now clear that state | Separate Energy recovery from an incorrectly retained status |
A fix announcement describes the developer's change. It does not promise recovery of every earlier loss or explain every later symptom. Keep a copy of a save before investigating missing character progress.
Rules from earlier patches still relevant to a run
The September 12 v0.4.23 note established Rank 2 expeditions of up to 6 members and Rank 3 expeditions of up to 8. It also announced Active Skill Energy reductions of 25% on Normal and 50% on Easy Combat Difficulty.
The September 13 Archer hotfix restored Rapid Fire to 80% per hit and 3 Energy, Arrow Rain to a 20-second cooldown, Sniping Shot to 180% plus 30% per unit of distance, and Sharp Shooter to 7% critical chance per completed kill-objective stage. These are the dated published values, not a fresh measurement of every current tooltip.
For a lost Soulstone, use the dedicated recovery checklist. For Tech Books and difficulty-dependent research workload, use Research Tree.
