For Dungeon Settlers dungeons, use the Expedition Guide for party size, pickup weight, continuing stay penalties, and safe returns. Use Soulstone Recovery when a lost stone is the problem. v0.4.29 keeps stay duration across normal floors and warns when a transition would leave living members behind.

Party size depends on Expedition Rank

The September 12 v0.4.23 patch establishes up to six members at Rank 2 and eight at Rank 3. The store's older four-person description does not override those rank-specific patch values. Check the capacity in the current campaign when selecting the group.

Give each member equipment and a first action that fits their role. The character guide helps compare a replacement or an additional recruit.

Account for weight and time together

More loot needs carrying room; more exploration consumes the run's recovery and stay budget. If pickup stops, inspect the selected weight threshold. If the target material is already obtained, compare a detour with the active stay effect before going deeper.

Changing normal floors no longer clears accumulated stay penalties. Camping supplies and a new floor should not be treated as an unlimited extension of the run.

Check members before leaving

Read the named living-member warning before confirming a transition. When using a Return Scroll after a death, separately confirm whether the deceased member is currently being carried.

For a missing Soulstone after returning, follow the dedicated recovery checklist before another merchant trip. Its requirements concern the current campaign, stone ownership, and living Soul Traits.
