You can recover a lost Soulstone by buying it from a dungeon merchant in Region 1 or 2, provided its monster has been defeated in your current campaign, the matching stone is nowhere in the settlement or dungeon, and no living Expedition Member has its Soul Trait. Check those three conditions before visiting either merchant.

Version and source: The purchase rules below are from the official v0.4.23 patch notes, reviewed September 26, 2026. This is a patch-based procedure, not a site-run merchant test. The announcement does not give a purchase price, a stock refresh timer, or a guaranteed path to a merchant.

Run the eligibility check in order

CheckWhat to do if it fails
Monster defeated in this campaignA kill in another save does not satisfy the stated rule. Defeat the corresponding monster at least once in this campaign.
No matching Soulstone in the settlement or dungeonSearch both places. A stone still present somewhere blocks the replacement, even if it is not in the bag you checked first.
No living member with the matching Soul TraitInspect living Expedition Members before concluding the stone vanished. The trait itself can make the purchase ineligible.
Visit a Region 1 or 2 dungeon merchantEither dungeon merchant can offer one of each eligible type among the same seven Soulstone types. Check the merchant only after the first three conditions are satisfied.

These are per-stone checks. Owning a different Soulstone or Soul Trait does not, by itself, explain why the particular stone you want is absent. Conversely, losing sight of a stone in your personal inventory does not establish that the game considers it absent from the settlement and dungeon.

Left it on a floor or lost the carrier?

The patch explicitly covers both common cases. A Soulstone left behind in an earlier dungeon, or lost when the member carrying that Soul died, can be sold again if all eligibility conditions are met. You do not need to assume that a missed pickup permanently locks the campaign. The same rule applies if you buy a replacement and later lose it again.

If a merchant does not list the stone, avoid repeating visits without changing anything. Recheck the corresponding monster kill, all possible stone locations, and living members' Soul Traits in that order. The official note promises availability for eligible types at the two dungeon merchants; it does not describe a separate quest, a settlement crafting recipe, or a timed restock step.

Apply the rule to the way you lost it

You skipped a drop. If you defeated the corresponding monster in this campaign but left its Soulstone behind, the patch explicitly allows a replacement. Check that the old stone no longer exists in the dungeon or settlement before you travel to a merchant. You do not have to assume a missed pickup has ended that Soul's progression.

A member carrying the Soul died. The patch also names this loss as recoverable when the same conditions hold. First check whether any living member still has the matching Soul Trait, then check where the stone ended up. Do this after any return or recovery action: the v0.4.23 Return Scroll change can bring back a deceased member currently carried with the party, but the Soulstone purchase rule still depends on the stone's actual location and living trait holders. Do not infer eligibility from the death alone.

You can see the stone elsewhere. This is a missing-inventory problem, not yet a lost-stone purchase case. The official rule excludes a matching Soulstone present in either the settlement or dungeon. Recover or use the existing stone according to your current situation before expecting a second copy to be sold.

You bought one and lost it again. The official note explicitly permits another purchase once the three conditions are met again. Re-run the check for that stone rather than assuming a one-time account-wide replacement limit.

Which merchant should you look for?

The official wording is dungeon merchants in Regions 1 and 2. Do not confuse that recovery rule with the Guild Merchant unlocked through a settlement Merchant Chamber. Those are different contexts in the published sources. For how the Merchant Chamber and its special construction item work, use Room Types and Upgrades. For preparing a safe trip to a dungeon merchant, use the Expedition Guide.

Once you find a merchant, inspect the current trade screen before spending Gold. v0.4.23 also changed purchase assignment to a member within trading range, so a transaction or capacity problem should be diagnosed separately from Soulstone eligibility. The patch gives no universal price or stock-reset schedule, and this guide does not assume one.

The stone appears, but the purchase fails

A visible Soulstone and a failed transaction are a different problem from a missing listing. The same v0.4.23 notes say trade confirmation now rechecks item quantities, Gold on both sides, the receiving unit, free space, weight, and other conditions. They also say click purchases in a dungeon are assigned to an Expedition Member within trading range. If the stone is visible, check the game's trade feedback, the recipient's range and capacity, and available Gold before questioning the repurchase rules. This is a practical reading of the patch's trade checks, not a claim that every failed transaction has the same cause.

Keep the distinction when reporting a problem: “the Soulstone is absent from the merchant's list” points back to kill, location, and trait eligibility; “the Soulstone is listed but I cannot complete the trade” points first to the trade screen and receiving member. Recording which of these occurred makes a report useful to another player or to the developer.

Why is my Soulstone missing from the shop?

Most useful next checks are specific: confirm the kill happened in this campaign, check the settlement and dungeon for the matching stone, then check every living member for the matching Soul Trait. If those conditions hold and a Region 1 or 2 dungeon merchant still lacks the eligible type, record the game build, region, merchant, stone name, and the visible trade result. That is a reproducible discrepancy to compare with later patches, not evidence that an unannounced purchase rule exists.
